Carnauba vs. Polymers
Carnauba has a low melting point and in some cases will just melt or burn off the surface in direct hot sunlight.
Synthetic polymers have a natural tendency to cling to the surface they are applied to better that carnaubas.
What is Carnauba Wax?
Carnauba wax is a hard natural wax that comes from carnauba plants in north-eastern Brazil. The carnauba wax covers the leaves of the carnauba plant, protecting it from harsh UV rays and shedding water, which keeps the plant strong. In its natural form, carnauba is a yellow-brown. This pure carnauba is collected from the leaves, which are beaten to loosen the wax, and its refined and bleached to turn into the car wax.
Just as the carnauba wax protects the plant leaves from the harsh sunlight, the wax can also shield your car paint from harmful UV rays, while providing a deep shine that sheds water and looks great.
Carnauba wax is good, no doubt, but here in Florida and in climates where the surface temperature of the waxed surface reaches or exceeds 130 degrees the Carnauba will start to "burn" off and evaporate. That is but one of the many reasons we manufacture a polymer based product, the "burn" off temperature of a polymer is in the 700 to 800 degree range.
However, the carnauba shine will not outlast a Polymer base wax, which means you have to apply it more often than a synthetic wax, which can last much longer. Carnauba wax is also more difficult to apply and remove, which can make it a challenge to work with, in addition to obtain outstanding results multi layers have to be applied, the use of multiple products and complicated steps that when not followed properly will ruin all that excessive hard work, no to mention the overprice product for less durability.
